We’ve had a lot of people ask us lately about collarings and ordeal rituals (both with collarings and in general).
Obviously collarings come in all shapes and sizes…..we’ve been talking about them on the podcast recently and during an interview with Kuldrin’s Krypt.
Episode 634 – Collaring Ceremonies
This is where we talk about ordeal rituals as a part of the collaring ceremony.
Though, Dan and I also participate in other ordeal rituals……I’ll be writing about those in a new book coming out and I talk about them during my Eros Gathering classes.
What is an ordeal ritual?
Usually it means going through something painful as a right of passage, or celebration or test. The pain can be physical or emotional….usually both.
But, when you come out on the other side, ….you’ve earned something.
Dan put me through an ordeal ritual just before collaring me. That was definitely more emotional than physical…..but that didn’t make it any easier than if it had been physical.
I’ve also shared about other ordeal rituals I’ve done…all of mine have involved BDSM and/or Power Exchange:
collaring – dawn’s ritual to prove ready for collaring
Whale ritual – dawn’s ritual to overcome some past trauma
Phoenix ritual – dawn’s ritual/rite of passage
Descent of Innana – Dan participated in one of Raven’s theatrical ordeal rituals
If you’d like to do more research on ordeal rituals that involve bdsm…..I highly recommend:
